Redistricting Proposal Called Racist
I favor amending the state Constitution so the legislative and executive branches have no role in redistricting. They are clearly too corrupted by partisan politics and conflicts of interest to be trusted with the task.
Nonpartisan think tanks may already have done research on alternatives to California’s dysfunctional system of political redistricting. If they haven’t, it is time for them to do so and publish issue papers on the subject. Then it will be time for citizens of all political persuasions to make use of the initiative process for the public good.
