Library Should Dump Top Staff
As a member of both the Thousand Oaks Library and Friends of the Library, it has become obvious that key members of the library’s administrative staff are closed-minded, paranoid, high-handed, arrogant, officious and petulant.
The people most active in Friends of the Library are apple-kissers, but this should not be surprising, because apple-kissers are the only people that the library administration will accept.
It has become obvious that, for the library to truly be a service to the people of this community, it will be necessary to remove the present top members of library administration.
In my opinion, as a separate matter, because of the deepening recession, it will be highly desirable to reduce the library budget from $4 million to $2 million, having both libraries open 2 1/2 days a week (i.e., Monday, Thursday and Saturday morning; or Tuesday, Friday and Saturday afternoon). It should be kept in mind that the library is not a necessity but a desirable adjunct to the educational system.
