Two men who were the first to be apprehended by a special San Diego police task force in North Park pleaded guilty Wednesday to robbery.
Both Richard Gorondy, 19, and Randall Rolling, 18, could be sentenced to a maximum of three years in state prison.
The pair were arrested minutes after the Dec. 18 mugging of a 24-year-old man near The Crypt, an adult book store near 30th Street and Polk Avenue. Undercover officers were patrolling the area following the Dec. 14 murder of 17-year-old John Wear in Hillcrest, which is still unsolved.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Allan Preckel will sentence Gorondy on April 1. Rolling’s sentencing was scheduled for April 22, to allow time for a psychological evaluation.
Rolling remains free on $15,000 bail, and Gorondy is free on $7,500 bail.
