LONG BEACH — A Los Alamitos man suspected of holding up a bank here was later robbed himself in Las Vegas as he left a casino where he had gone to gamble with his ill-gotten wealth, police said.
David Paul Colussi, 34, was arrested in Westminster on Tuesday in connection with the March 6 robbery of Hawthorne Savings Bank at 2200 Bellflower Blvd., police said.
Colussi fled to Las Vegas after the robbery, said Long Beach Police Detective Bob Vandermeer. Colussi did not have much luck on the casino tables and left with only some of the money he stole from the bank, Vandermeer said.
As he left a casino, Colussi was robbed at gunpoint of his remaining cash, Vandermeer said.
Colussi returned to Orange County on Tuesday and tried to sell his car in the Westminster area, Vandermeer said. His name was flagged in a Department of Motor Vehicles file, and DMV officials alerted Westminster police, who arrested him.
Colussi was being held in Long Beach City Jail without bail Wednesday night. He was booked on suspicion of bank robbery and parole violation, Vandermeer said.
