Comedian Karyn Ruth White says she and her bank have a good relationship.
“We understand each other,” the Corona del Mar resident says. “The other day they sent me a special batch of personalized checks. Under the memo section it says, ‘First Come First Served.’ . . . Don’t think ill of me. I don’t write bad checks. All my checks are good. . . eventually.”
White, who calls herself “the Swiss Miss on Steroids” (“I’m a tall, wild blond woman”), is one of four stand-up comics who perform tonight at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. The 5-foot-11 White, who wears a Swiss Miss outfit complete with a Nordic-looking skirt and “wild” blouse, performs regularly at the Laff Stop in Newport Beach and recently opened for Leon Redbone at the Coach House.
Says White: “I talk about my family and do a lot of stuff on television advertising, societal observations and male-female roles. It’s all done in good taste, but I’m not Doris Day on stage either.”
