Baseball’s ownership committee, while again postponing a recommendation on the Japanese-led offer to buy the Seattle Mariners, gave indications at a meeting in St. Louis that it is moving toward approval of the sale.
At the start of the meeting, the 18 clubs not represented on the committee participated in a telephone conference call for a major league meeting in which Joseph Molloy won unanimous approval as managing general partner of the New York Yankees.
