La Crescenta’s Nygord Fifth in Olympic Air Pistol Match

Don Nygord of La Crescenta was fifth in the air pistol competition in Chino on Wednesday after the first of two selection matches for the 1992 U.S. Olympic pistol squad.

Nygord had 1,338.7 of a possible 1,418 points, 15.1 behind leader Ben Amonette of Radford, Va.

Two men and two women will be selected to compete in the Olympic event after the final tryout May 13-14.
