COLLEGE BASEBALL DAILY PLAYOFF REPORT : PIERCE COLLEGE : Fresno Wins State Title

Kevin Howard’s two-out, ninth-inning single scored Scott Taglione with the winning run as Fresno City College downed Sacramento City, 3-2, in Monday’s state championship game at Riverside.
The title was the first in baseball for Fresno (45-7) in 20 years. Sacramento (34-5), which knocked Pierce out of the tournament Sunday, finished second for the second year in a row.
