Bowness, Holmgren Are NHL Coaches Again

Rick Bowness and Paul Holmgren were back in the coaching business Monday in the NHL.
Bowness, who came within four games of the Stanley Cup final this spring with Boston, was hired by the expansion Ottawa Senators a week after being fired by the Bruins.
“It’s been an unbelievable week,” Bowness said. “From the depths of depression last Monday to the highs of being the first coach of the Ottawa Senators. I’ve seen both ends of the spectrum.”
The Hartford Whalers, changing for the third time in three seasons, signed Holmgren, fired six months ago by the Philadelphia Flyers, to a three-year contract.
