World IN BRIEF : AFGHANISTAN : Former President Reportedly Killed

Former Afghan President Babrak Karmal and a key militia commander, Gen. Rasheed Dostum, were killed in an air crash near the capital Kabul, Pakistan’s official APP news agency reported. APP quoted a Pakistani member of Parliament, Samiul Haq, as saying that the information about the crash was given to him by Afghan Justice Ministry officials while they were in the Saudi city of Jidda.
