Broken Pipe Floods 5 Floors of Hotel

ANAHEIM — A ruptured pipe gushed water between walls and flooded five floors Tuesday night at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, officials said.
Fire Department investigators and hotel officials were trying to determine what caused the pipe to burst, said hotel director of marketing Jim Luce.
About 40 rooms were without water for a few hours and at least two people were moved from the hotel on Convention Way to other local hotels for the night, Luce said.
Marriott officials said the hotel was fully booked for a convention.
Hotel personnel first noticed the problem about 6:45 p.m. when water began leaking out of hallway light sockets or ceiling tiles, Luce said. The burst pipe was in a wall between two sixth-floor rooms.
Luce said hotel officials did not have an estimate of the damage.
