MOORPARK : City Hires New Director for Parks

The city of Moorpark has hired a new community services director to manage the city’s eight parks and its various recreation programs.
Christine Adams, 36, who previously served as director of the Walnut Valley Recreation District in Los Angeles County, officially took over the Moorpark job Monday.
Adams fills a position that was left vacant when former community services director Phil Newhouse resigned in December.
The new director said Tuesday that one of the most demanding parts of her new job will be overseeing the development of two new parks: Arroyo Vista Community Park and the small, neighborhood park planned for Virginia Colony.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge,” she said.
Adams, her husband and their two sons, Ben, 7, and Sam, 4, now live in LaVerne, near Pomona. But the family is considering moving to eastern Ventura County.
