A proposed 72-unit senior citizen apartment complex won preliminary City Council approval Tuesday. In a 5-0 vote, the council tentatively approved the three-story project for a 1.13-acre site at 1040 Unruh Ave. Units will feature 550 square feet for one bedroom and 780 square feet for two bedrooms.
As a condition of approval, the council will require that developer Jose Gutierrez provide free daily transit service for residents, including shuttle service to banks, grocery stores and doctors. A final vote is scheduled for Aug. 25.
