Temple City : Trash Disposal Fees to Rise
- Share via
Starting in September, residents and businesses will see an increase in their monthly trash disposal bills.
The City Council voted 4 to 0 in favor of the increase to help pay for mounting costs of compliance with the state’s Integrated Waste Management Act and an ongoing legal case. Councilwoman Cathe Wilson was absent.
A flat 89-cent charge will be added to household trash monthly collection bills of $14.54. Commercial rates will rise 7.9% from the current average of $82.34 a month.
The additional income, estimated at $117,000 for fiscal 1992-93, will be divided between city recycling efforts and the suit on refuse disposal at the Operating Industries Inc. landfill in Monterey Park.
