OPEC Lifts Oil Output: OPEC nations boosted oil output last month to the highest level since February, driving the cartel nearly a million barrels a day over its production limit, according to a new report by the International Energy Agency. In the report, the IEA estimated that the 13-nation cartel pumped 24.3 million barrels a day of crude in August, about 200,000 barrels more than in the previous month. Kuwait, its oil industry heavily damaged by the Gulf War, pushed production in August above 1 million barrels a day for the first time since it was invaded, the report said. Kuwait produced more than 2 million barrels a day before Iraq’s invasion in August, 1990.
