AIRPORT BEAUTIFUL: What’s the first thing you notice at John Wayne Airport, besides planes coming and going? County officials hope it’s the landscaping, recently completed, considering they put so much into it. . . . The count: 34,000 plants, mostly agapanthus and birds of paradise; 200 bougainvillea; six acres of honeysuckle, morning glories and ivy; two acres of grass; 124 Washingtonia robusta palms (tall and skinny), and 39 Phoenix palms (shorter and fatter).
