HOMEBOY: A lot of L.A. Rams players call Orange County home, but only one on the 47-player roster grew up here. He’s defensive tackle Mike Piel, who played at El Toro High School and then two years at Saddleback College before transferring to Illinois. . . . Since joining the Rams in 1988, his career has been limited by injuries. But Piel says he’s healthy and anxious to play. And maybe Rams fans can see him do just that when the team opens its season today at Buffalo.
