SANTA ANA — One man was killed and another wounded when a gunman opened fire on them Wednesday night while they sat in a parked car in a neighborhood, police said, adding that they do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
The two men, who had not yet been identified Wednesday night, were in a car at the corner of Highland Avenue and Shelton Street about 8:30 p.m. when a man approached them and fired several shots, Lt. Earl Porter said. The driver fled and called for help from another location, he added.
The victims were taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where the passenger was pronounced dead and the driver was treated for leg wounds, Porter said.
