FULLERTON — Adam Chez returned a punt 65 yards with 2 minutes 35 seconds remaining as Sonora spoiled Fullerton’s homecoming with a 6-0 victory in a Freeway League game Friday night at Fullerton High.
Chez took Manual Sauceda’s 30-yard punt on his own 35-yard line and raced down the right sideline for the game’s only score.
Fullerton’s best chance to score came just before the half as the Indians (1-6, 0-2 in league) drove to the 15 of Sonora (2-5, 1-1) with less than a minute left in the half.
Cameron McMackin went around left end and was tackled out of bounds at the Sonora one, but the play was nullified by a holding penalty. Indians quarterback Keith Ginter was sacked by Ricardo Castro to end the half.
Play was stopped early in the fourth quarter as Fullerton lineman Armando Torres was taken off the field on a stretcher. Torres suffered a neck injury, according to Indian trainer Robin Walker.
