7,500 Expected for Mt. SAC Cross-Country

WALNUT — Cool temperatures and a chance of rain are predicted for today’s Mt. San Antonio College Invitational cross-country meet. And those figure to be ideal conditions for the 400 schools and 7,500 runners expected to test Mt. SAC’s hilly, three-mile course.
Team and individual sweepstakes races will begin at 9:45 a.m.
The boys’ teams from Katella, No. 1-ranked in Orange County and the Southern Section Division II, and Newport Harbor, No. 2 in the county and No. 1 in Division III, are expected to run.
Last week, Katella easily defeated Newport Harbor in the Orange County Championships. Katella’s Mike Love, a senior, had the fastest time of the meet, 15 minutes 4 seconds.
The Corona del Mar girls, top-ranked in the county and in the section’s Division III, and Edison, No. 2 in the county and No. 1 in Division II, will challenge Agoura, top-ranked nationally by Harrier magazine.
