A 16-year-old motorist who authorities described as an inexperienced driver struck and killed a bicyclist Saturday in the Antelope Valley, authorities said.
The 16-year-old, who was not identified, was attempting early Saturday morning to drive past two brothers who were pedaling single file westbound on Elizabeth Lake Road east of Godde Road, said Officer Jim Groseof the California Highway Patrol.
But he struck them both, slightly injuring one 54-year-old man and killing his 52-year-old brother. The victims were not identified pending notification of family members. Grose said the youth was not arrested because he was not speeding nor was he under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“His inexperience as a driver definitely contributed to this,” Grose said.
