Teledyne Systems Co., a Northridge-based subsidiary of Teledyne Inc., said it would cut its work force of 1,500 by 232 because of declining defense business.
The company, which produces specialized military computers and test equipment for aircraft and satellites, said it has laid off about 150 employees. Another 82 workers have accepted a voluntary early retirement package offered earlier this month.
The cutbacks were evenly distributed among administrative, manufacturing and engineering departments, the company said.
Teledyne Inc. is a Los Angeles-based defense and aerospace concern.
