‘Damage’ Delay: “Damage,” Louis Malle’s film for New Line Cinema rated NC-17 by the Motion Picture Assn. of America, will open in Los Angeles and New York on Dec. 23, a week later than originally planned due to the film’s rating controversy. After losing an appeal to get an R rating, New Line said it is still considering options for the movie’s release. “Damage” stars Jeremy Irons as a member of Parliament involved in an illicit affair. The movie’s release in the rest of the nation has been pushed from Jan. 16 to Jan. 22.
