Summerland Home for Clinton
There you go again. In “California Dreamin’ ” (editorial, Nov. 14) we are informed that the new western White House is in “Summerland, south of Santa Barbara,” a geographically erroneous statement, in spite of what the freeway and highway signs (incorrectly) state. For eight years we were told that another part-time resident of Santa Barbara County, President Reagan, was at his mountaintop ranch in Santa Barbara County “20 miles north of Santa Barbara.”
Summerland is approximately 10 miles east of Santa Barbara; that city, the Reagan ranch, and President-elect Clinton’s new residence in Summerland are between 100 and 130 miles west of Los Angeles, not north.
