Quarterback Sean Williams connected on a 45-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Scott Coleman with no time remaining to lead the Dons to a 38-33 victory over Saugus in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs. The catch was the first of the season for Coleman, who had been the Dons’ starting quarterback for the first seven games but was moved to tight end when Williams became quarterback. Dominguez will host Esperanza in the second round of the playoffs Friday.
Other top prep performers:
Mark Kotsay, Santa Fe quarterback, ran for 113 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also completed 11 of 22 passes for 128 yards as the Chiefs defeated Los Altos, 31-15, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division VI playoffs.
DeMarco Ford, a Wilson High linebacker, had five sacks for losses totaling 39 yards as he led the Bruins to a 24-10 victory over Antelope Valley in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.
