Pacifica’s Heckel Quits as Basketball Coach

GARDEN GROVE — Rhett Heckel has resigned as boys’ basketball coach at Pacifica High, Chris Hurst, the school’s athletic director, said Wednesday.

Hurst said Heckel will be replaced by Dave Brodt, who for the past five years has coached the junior varsity and has been an assistant on the varsity.

Heckel coached the Mariners for six seasons, compiling a 65-60 record.
