Slashing Suspects: Five gangsters were arrested Thursday in Tokyo for a slashing attack last May on film director Juzo Itami, who had made a movie critical of organized crime. The five are accused of slashing Itami on the cheek a week after his film “Mimbo no Onna” (“Mob-Fighting Woman”) was released. The men denied involvement. Itami, 59, is perhaps Japan’s best-known director after Akira Kurosawa.
