WEEKEND TV : ‘Minnelli,’ ‘Toons’ Top the Specials

Television gets into the holiday spirit this weekend with specials and Christmas-themed shows.

The biggest is PBS’ “Liza Minnelli Live! From Radio City Music Hall,” airing Sunday at 9 p.m. on KCET Channel 28 and KPBS Channel 15 at 7:15 p.m.

The 90-minute special, taped last January, is divided into two parts. Minnelli appears alone in the first act, singing such hits as “Some People” from “Gypsy” and “Live Alone and Like It.”

She is joined by 12 singers and dancers in the second act that includes tributes to Bob Fosse and her father, Vincente Minnelli.

Also on Sunday, Fox presents “It’s a Wonderful Tiny Toons Christmas Special” at 7 p.m. (11)(6).
