Santa Margarita Upsets Lynwood in Overtime

MISSION VIEJO — Santa Margarita shut out Lynwood in overtime and won, 70-65, in a quarterfinal game of the Coca-Cola/Converse Classic Wednesday at Capistrano Valley High.
Adam Dzierzyski made a three-pointer in overtime as the Eagles (2-0), ranked No. 3 in the Southern Section Division III preseason poll, upset Lynwood, ranked No. 2 in Division I and fifth in the State Division I.
With 10 seconds remaining in regulation, Santa Margarita’s Jason Stipher was fouled in three-point territory and made all three free throws to tie the score.
