Clintons’ Visit to Summerland

Let me get this straight: Hayden is complaining that the public persona of Clinton may be just another Hollywood construct. This is the same Tom Hayden whose tenure in public office is testament to the celluloid society’s enduring devotion to radical chic.
The state senator from Santa Monica is worried that Clinton’s populism may prove ephemeral because the Arkansas governor seeks to broaden his base by wading into environs known to be frequented by Republicans and freethinkers. Implicit in this concern is Hayden’s fear that the President-elect might deviate from the “politically correct” course of liberalism.
Let us hope that the self-styled populist of the left has reason to be worried.
