Vietnam Ties

With the U.S. taking steps toward lifting the Vietnam trade embargo (“U.S. Firms Get OK for Closer Viet Ties,” Dec. 15) we Vietnamese-Americans can return to our country, not at the point of bayonet, but with flying colors of democracy and American technological superiority.
The Bush Administration move will save not only the Vietnamese people at home from starvation and moral and intellectual degradation but also their fellows abroad, especially their businesses in Orange County from bankruptcy.
Left alone without Uncle Sam’s presence, the Viet Cong, under Chinese expansionist schemes and pressure, will transform Vietnam into a Chinese province, as often repeated by history.
