Readers responded with sincerity, wit and, occasionally, vehemence to our queries for their assessments of the best and worst in pop music, theater, art, classical music and dance in Orange County in 1992. Here is some of what they had to say:

Glad you asked. Most of the art shows I see in Orange County are bland, superficial and stuck in the ‘70s. There were two shining exceptions in 1992. Newcomer Myrella Moss’ dynamic show at NESE Gallery in Costa Mesa was a throwback to the classical notion that idea and execution must be equal feasts for the eye and the mind. The second beam of light in an otherwise dreary year was the Newport Harbor Art Museum’s magnificent retrospective of Max Ernst. Every once in a while we are treated to a banquet of artistic genius; such was the case here.
