Jay S. Stein has resigned as chairman and chief executive of the MCA Recreation Services Group and a vice president of MCA Inc., Ron Bension, was named to replace him.
Stein will continue to serve the Universal City-based entertainment company as a consultant. He said the move enables him to continue his involvement with the company, while setting aside more time for “personal and charitable pursuits.” The 55-year-old executive joined MCA, a unit of Japan’s Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., and has served in a variety of capacities since 1959.
Bension, 38, formerly worked as president and chief operating officer of MCA’s Recreation Services Group. He joined the company in 1971.
