Lucille S. Salhany has been named chairwoman of Fox Broadcasting Co., succeeding Jamie Kellner, who on Monday announced that he was stepping down after seven years at the helm of the fourth network.
Salhany, 46, will report to Fox Inc. Chairman Rupert Murdoch. She had run Twentieth Television, the syndication and network program production arm of the Century City-based film and TV studio, since July, 1991.
Murdoch also named Salhany as a director of Fox Inc. Also appointed to the Fox board was Chase Carey, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Fox Inc., and David DeVoe, chief financial officer of parent News Corp.
Twentieth Television, which produces “In Living Color” and “L.A. Law” among other series, will be under Carey’s direction.
Salhany will oversee programming, affiliate relations and advertising at Fox as the fourth network prepares to introduce a seventh night of programming later this month. Later in the year, it plans a new, late-night talk show starring Chevy Chase.
