Bosnia

During the last few months the world has learned that tens of thousands of Bosnian and Croatian women and children have been systematically and brutally raped by Serbian forces. During this time the international community has done nothing to alleviate the suffering of these people. The United States and the United Nations have done little more than issue mild rebukes.
Why the silence? Perhaps the world still does not care when women are the victims. Perhaps the world has little sympathy for Muslims--a group continually stigmatized and stereotyped.
We cannot sit silently and watch the Serbs commit “ethnic cleansing.” It is an insult to our humanity that we have learned nothing from the agony of the Holocaust. Our leaders must take strong action immediately to show the Serbs that the world will not tolerate the torture and degradation of a people.
