Jockey Phil Rubbicco, convicted of being the ringleader in a fixed race in 1986, has been denied reinstatement for the second time by the Louisiana State Racing Commission.
Rubbicco, who rode No Lehase to a second-place finish in the 1972 Kentucky Derby behind Riva Ridge, was banished after his conviction in 1987 on one count of sports bribery and one count of conspiracy. Authorities said he offered two jockeys bribes totaling $1,300 to alter the outcome of a race in 1986.
