OXNARD : Gen. Powell Cancels Lecture Appearance

Gen. Colin L. Powell, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will not be coming to Oxnard on Monday to deliver a lecture because of more pressing duties involving events in Iraq and Somalia.
Instead, former Undersecretary of the Navy Dan Howard will deliver the keynote address to a conference of the American Society of Quality Control, sponsored by the group’s Channel Cities section, group spokeswoman Renee Will said. Howard will discuss U.S. defense in the 21st Century.
The conference at the Mandalay Beach Resort will include panel sessions with private industry representatives and U.S. defense agencies.
