STV FOR MTV KIDS: TV is one way that Stan Cummings, director of the Orange County Marine Institute, hopes to teach young people about life in the sea. About 10,000 students, from March 1 through 13, will watch whales giving birth in a Baja California lagoon, live via three giant TV screens, part of the national Project Jason. . . . And in April, the institute will introduce a sea life pilot program on STV--Science TV --for classroom use. “The goal is to motivate students to pursue science,” Cummings says. “The ocean becomes a tool for that.”
