IRVINE — Small-business owners and would-be owners will find a convention center full of resources this weekend when the Entrepreneur Expo opens for a two-day run at the Long Beach Convention Center.
More than 150 exhibitors have signed up to attend, according to expo organizer Entrepreneur Group in Irvine, publisher of Entrepreneur magazine. Exhibitors will include office-equipment suppliers, financial advisers and franchise sellers.
Admission is $10 at the door.
The expo is the second such event that Entrepreneur Group has organized. The first one, in New Jersey in May, drew more than 10,000 people, said Jim Fitzpatrick, publisher of the magazine.
Quik Copy, a chain of photocopy service stores, and Subway, which operates sandwich shops, are among the franchise sellers planning to attend this weekend, Fitzpatrick said.
Free workshops will also be offered both days on business financing, developing a business plan, buying and selling a business, and more.
Speakers include Entrepreneur’s editor-in-chief, Rieva Lesonsky, and Vicki Dallas, a partner in the corporate department at the law firm Rutan & Tucker in Costa Mesa. The firm is co-sponsoring the expo, along with Hilton Hotels Corp.
“We think this is a wonderful opportunity for us to assist developing businesses,” Dallas said. Asked whether the firm hopes to bring in business for itself as well, she said, “Of course.”
Entrepreneur Group is planning to hold four more expos this year: in Chicago, New Jersey, Atlanta and Mexico City.
