Four bands will donate their services Friday night at the venerable Ventura Theatre in a benefit concert for the Jesse Strobel Memorial Fund. The evening will feature a variety of live acts for rock, folk, and country-Western fans.
The proceeds of this event will go to defray the funeral expenses of the recently slain Ventura High School football player.
The folk and bluegrass sounds of the Acousticats and the country-Western music of Robyn Jordan & the Sage Dogs will entertain the pointy-shoe crowd beginning at 6 p.m. Raging Arb & the Redheads and Ariel will provide the rock portion of the program beginning at 9 p.m.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and the show begins shortly thereafter. The theater will offer a Santa Maria-style tri-tip barbecue for $6. This is in addition to the $6 dollar admission charge. A portion of the proceeds will also be used to provide equipment for the Ventura High Cougar football team.
