WEST LOS ANGELES : Student With Gun Seized After Tip Using Hot Line
- Share via
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for bringing a loaded 9-millimeter handgun to a West Los Angeles junior high school after a student turned him in using the school district’s new telephone hot line.
The arrest of the Webster Junior High School student is the first resulting from the use of the weapons prevention anonymous tip line since its inception in early February, shortly after the fatal shooting of a student at Fairfax High School.
The gun was confiscated from the Webster teen-ager on campus Wednesday. It had not been fired.
The school district has been logging up to 12 calls a day on the 24-hour, toll-free tip line: 1-800-954-HELP.
