An 85-year-old man riding a motor scooter died after he collided with a car and fell from his vehicle, officials said Thursday.
Walter Himmler of Laguna Hills died Wednesday shortly after the 2:35 p.m. accident, California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Miles said.
Himmler was driving east on El Toro Road near Avenida Sevilla at about 35 m.p.h. He changed lanes, collided with an eastbound car and lost control, the CHP said.
Himmler, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he died.
The driver of the car, a 79-year-old Laguna Hills woman, was not cited. The investigation into the accident is continuing, the CHP said.
