Charlie Hayes, the Colorado Rockies’ third baseman and one of their projected leaders in their inaugural season, tore a ligament in his right thumb and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.
Hayes was injured sliding into third base during an intrasquad game Wednesday at the Rockies’ training camp in Tucson. No surgery will be required, the team said.
