Long Beach : Man Stabbed to Death Near Downtown Police Station

A Long Beach man was stabbed to death late Tuesday after arguing with a group of 10 to 14 men two blocks from the downtown police station, authorities reported Wednesday.
Marcellus Crisp, 34, stumbled into a liquor store in the 600 block of West Broadway around 11 p.m. Tuesday and asked a clerk to call paramedics. He was taken to St. Mary Medical Center, he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police are uncertain about the motive for the stabbing, but they suspect that drugs were involved. “There was a piece of rock cocaine when they rolled him over to put him on the gurney,” Homicide Detective Roy Hamand said.
Witnesses told officers that Crisp was arguing with a group of men shortly before the stabbing but details of the incident are sketchy. “At that location, there are a lot of people driving by, and we hope someone will call in with information,” Hamand said.
