World IN BRIEF : CAMBODIA : 26 Civilians, Most Vietnamese, Slain

At least 26 civilians, most of them Vietnamese, have been killed in an overnight attack on a village in northwestern Cambodia, a U.N. spokesman said. The Phnom Penh government reported as many as 34 Vietnamese were killed and 33 wounded in the attack about six miles south of Siem Reap; U.N. officials confirmed 26 deaths. The attack was the worst of several massacres of ethnic Vietnamese in the past year, and U.N. sources said Khmer Rouge guerrillas are suspected of being responsible.
