STATELINE, Nev. — A tiff between rival gangs at Lake Tahoe escalated into a shooting that put one person in the hospital and at least 10 more in jail, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Ross Chichester said a group called the BNG gang contends that members of the South Side 13 tried to run them down Monday night on U.S. 50 in the South Lake Tahoe area.
Seeking retaliation, members of the BNG gang went to a Stateline condominium late Tuesday that serves as a hangout for the South Side 13, Chichester said. A 19-year-old gang member who ran was shot in the upper chest and was in stable condition.
Chichester said three people were arrested Tuesday night and seven others--five adults and two juveniles, ages 14 and 16--were picked up in a burglary that police think is connected to the shooting.
