ALBANY, Calif. — Electing not to wait for the night’s Super Lotto drawing, a fan at Golden Gate Fields struck it rich Wednesday afternoon by hitting the Tri-Superfecta for $219,739.
There was only one perfect ticket in the Tri-Superfecta, a bet in which handicappers have to pick the first three finishers in the third race and the first four finishers in the fifth race.
The Tri-Superfecta hadn’t been hit since Feb. 20, when two patrons cashed in for $66,644.40. Eleven days of carryovers pushed the Tri-Superfecta pool to $195,855 and another $59,770 was bet on the exotic wager Wednesday.
The top three betting choices in the 1 1/16-mile third race made up the Trifecta as 4-1 second-choice Crap Table led 6-5 favorite Aggressive King and 5-1 third-choice Lou’s Dawn across the wire.
Because the third race was so formful, there were 777 live tickets going into the 1 1/16-mile fifth race. However, only one ticket had the perfect combination of El Chipocludo (9-2) to Object Is Money (7-1) to R T Three (6-1) to Friendly Habits (7-2) in the fifth.
Wednesday was the 27th day of the Golden Gate season and the Tri-Superfecta has now been hit four times.
