Malibu : Conservancy Seat Proposed
State Sen. Tom Hayden (D-Santa Monica) has introduced a bill to give Malibu a seat on the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee.
The conservancy was created as a state agency in 1979 to buy parkland in and near the Santa Monica Mountains. It also oversees trail dedications and other projects. The 16-member committee advises the conservancy’s board of directors on actions affecting their area.
If the bill is approved, Malibu will become the 17th member, joining, among others, Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and the cities of Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita, Moorpark, Agoura Hills and Westlake Village.
