A day after sweeping a doubleheader from the nation’s third-ranked school, Cal State Northridge’s softball team saw an eight-game winning streak come to an end in a 5-1 loss to DePaul at CSUN on Saturday.
The Matadors came back to beat DePaul in the second game, 13-0.
The Blue Demons (5-8) scored two runs in the third inning and three in the fourth while tagging CSUN pitchers Amy Windmiller and Kathy Blake for 10 hits in the first game.
Windmiller, who shut out Nevada Las Vegas on Friday, took the loss, allowing all five runs in 3 2/3 innings to fall to 7-2.
CSUN (17-3), ranked seventh, jumped on DePaul in the second game with 12 runs in the first inning in support of winning pitcher Jennifer Richardson (3-0).
The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule. Scia Maumausolo led the offense with two hits.
