Murdoch Reportedly Interested in Re-Buying N.Y. Post: Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, who once turned the New York Post into one of the country’s brashest tabloids, is considering repurchasing the ailing daily, the New York Times reported. The newspaper said Murdoch, who poured $150 million and 12 years into the money-losing Post before throwing in the towel in 1988, has called New York Gov. Mario Cuomo and at least two U.S. senators to express interest in reacquiring the paper. Murdoch would need a waiver from federal rules barring ownership of a newspaper and television station in the same community.
